My First Days at Mabali
I Amla (Gooseberry) Tree have a golden memory from 2018, the day I was planted at Mabali Island by my master, Brig. Haider. It was a special moment, not only for me but for the whole team at Mabali. I wasn’t alone when I arrived; I came with my three fellow friends, each of us assigned a different part of the resort to grow and thrive.
I Amla (Gooseberry) Tree was lucky enough to be planted near the Kids Zipline Area, a place that is always bustling with laughter, joy, and the energy of little ones. One of my friends was planted near the Juice Bar, while the third was placed near the kitchen area. At first, we were just small baby trees, unable to see each other as we struggled to adapt to our new home. But today, as we’ve grown into strong, tall trees, we can finally see one another from our respective places, and it fills us with happiness.
Amla (Gooseberry) Tree Growing Up at Mabali Island
Over the years, we’ve grown from tiny saplings to young trees. Last year, we began bearing fruits, though only a few. This year, we’re doing our best to produce the best quality fruits for all the guests who visit. Watching families and children play, run, and enjoy themselves at Mabali Island has been one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. From my vantage point, I’ve seen so much joy—families bonding, kids laughing, and guests relaxing in the natural beauty of the resort.
I’ve faced challenges, too. I’ve weathered many storms, standing tall and strong with the help of God. I am proud to say that I still provide shade and comfort to all who seek it beneath my branches. My leaves sway gently to welcome every guest who comes by, offering them peace and rest.

My Caretakers
I Amla (Gooseberry) Tree can’t forget the gardeners who have taken such great care of me over the years. Pervaiz and Zarif Shah have both been my dedicated caretakers, ensuring I get the water and fertilizer I need to thrive. They visit me regularly, trimming my branches when needed and always ensuring I am in good health. Thanks to them, I have grown strong and healthy, ready to serve the children and families who visit Mabali Island.
Life Near the Kids Zipline Area
Being located near the Kids Zipline Area has given me the wonderful opportunity to watch children engage in fun and adventure. From ziplining to swimming, tree climbing, and even bouncing on the trampoline, the joy they bring is contagious. I feel incredibly honored to provide shade and shelter for these young adventurers as they play beneath my branches.
One of my closest friends, the amla tree near the Juice Bar, feels even luckier. His fruits are used to make fresh juice for the guests, and he enjoys the satisfaction of watching people savor the goodness of our fruits. Another one of our friends, planted near the kitchen area, is always available to offer shade to the hardworking staff at Mabali. We feel blessed to serve in these small but meaningful ways, making sure everyone—guests and staff alike—benefit from our presence.

How to Eat Amla
You can enjoy my fruits in many ways:
- Raw: Eating 1-2 fresh amla a day is highly recommended.
- Juice: Amla juice is often consumed with a dash of honey for added sweetness.
- Pickle (Achar): In Pakistan and India, amla is commonly used as a pickle (achar), adding a tangy flavor to meals.
While Amla is incredibly nutritious, it’s important to consume it in moderation. Always consult with a healthcare professional if you’re unsure about how much to eat, especially if you have any health conditions.
A Humble Request
Dear guests, when you visit Mabali Island, I Amla (Gooseberry) Tree invite you to take a photograph with me. This simple act will create lasting memories for both you and me. While I love seeing children and families enjoying their time here, I do ask one thing: please respect my branches and leaves. Sometimes, kids or young visitors break my leaves, and although I know they don’t mean harm, it does cause me real pain. I hope you understand and help me continue serving everyone with my shade and fruits. Please refrain from harvesting my fruits without informing the management. If you’d like to enjoy some, kindly consult with the management, and they will assist you accordingly.
Ending Note: A Message of Growth and Gratitude
As the amla tree at Mabali, I’ve experienced incredible growth over the years. I’ve seen families connect, children play, and nature flourish. Along with my fellow trees, I hope to continue offering our fruits, shade, and beauty to all who visit.
I am truly grateful for the care I’ve received and the role I play at Mabali Island. I pray that Mabali continues to grow, planting more trees like me so that we can all contribute to this wonderful community. Thank you for visiting, and I look forward to providing you with fruits, shade, and memories for years to come.
